Project

Wise Services began work on the MOX Project near Aiken, SC in April 2008. At the USDOE Savannah River Site, Wise performs specialized construction services for Shaw AREVA MOX Services, LLC which is under contract with the DOE's National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) to design, build, and operate a 600,000 sq ft Mixed Oxide (MOX) Fuel Fabrication Facility; the first-of-its-kind in the country.

The facility will utilize state-of-the-art technologies to convert surplus plutonium from nuclear weapons into fuel for use in commercial nuclear power plants. One MOX fuel assembly can provide enough electricity to power 9,000 homes for one year. This project is a key component of the United States nuclear non-proliferation program and contributes significantly to the world's nuclear security.

To date, the MOX Project has worked 13 million safe work hours without a lost time incident. Wise Services' has substantially contributed to that achievement.
